A chalet on three floors

You visit the chalet from the bottom up. On the ground floor, a large fully fitted entrance hall with two single fold-away beds in a wall cupboard and a modern bathroom with walk-in shower: the floor for children or friends who go to bed late. On the first floor, the warm living room with its Alpine decor, large windows onto the view, the fully equipped kitchen, a guest toilet and direct access to the terrace. On the second, the three double bedrooms, the bathroom with bath and the balcony that overlooks it all.

Wood is everywhere, as in a chalet built the old way: panelled ceilings, walls, furniture. The parquet on the top floor can creak slightly when you walk, that is the character of the place. A fireplace decorates the living room; it is not lit, the heating is independent.

Eight beds, three real bedrooms

The three bedrooms on the second floor are bright and all doubles, with beds of different sizes: a 180 cm king size, a 160 cm queen size and a 140 cm double. Each has its storage and blackout blinds. The two single beds in the hall fold back into their cupboard when not in use, and the hall becomes a passageway again.

Sheets, duvet covers, household linen and towels are provided, the beds are made on arrival. The chalet has its own washing machine and tumble dryer, which matters for a week with eight people and children, and a high chair is available.

The living room, the kitchen and meals

The first-floor living room is the heart of the chalet: sofas and armchairs around the coffee table, the television, and large windows framing the mountain view. The wooden dining table seats all eight under the panelled ceiling.

The kitchen is fully equipped: oven, hob, fridge with freezer, dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker, baking trays, utensils and wine glasses. The supermarket and the bakery are in the village, five minutes on foot.

The terrace, the balcony and the view

The south-facing terrace, level with the living room, gets the sun for a good part of the day; in summer you eat outside, in winter you drink a coffee wrapped up facing the peaks. The second-floor balcony, in front of the bedrooms, offers an open panoramic view of the Vaud Alps, with nothing opposite.

The neighbourhood is residential and silent, close to the forest: that is what guests mention most often, along with the view. Smoking is possible outside, on the terrace, never indoors.

The neighbourhood: Chemin des Râpes

The chalet is less than five minutes on foot from the sports centre, the Villars baths, the ice rink, the tennis courts and the village centre with its restaurants and shops. The lifts are a quarter of an hour on foot, or two minutes by car; a free shuttle bus stops nearby.

The parking is fifteen metres from the chalet and there are no stairs to the entrance: you unload right at the door, which changes everything on arrival with suitcases, skis and children.

Who it suits

Two families, a family with grandparents, eight sporty friends: the chalet was designed for being many without getting in each other's way, with one floor per use. The children have the hall and the garden, the adults the living room and the terrace, everyone the view.

The minimum stay is five nights, all year round: a chalet this size is rented by the week or nearly, not for two nights.

Arrival and departure, in practice

Independent arrival from 5 pm with a key box; the code, the wifi code and useful addresses are in the arrival guide sent before your stay. Our Villars team answers every day from 9 am to 9 pm, usually within the hour.

Departure by 9 am at the latest. Three things we ask: take your rubbish with you (the chalet has no container), wash the dishes you used and strip duvet covers and pillowcases. End-of-stay cleaning is done by our team.

Good to know before booking

Non-smoking indoors (smoking is possible outside on the terrace), no pets and no parties; the neighbours ask for quiet from 10 pm. The fireplace is decorative. Ski boots stay outside or in the hall, never upstairs.

The Ollon tourist tax is included in the price shown. These are the same conditions as on Airbnb, for the same chalet, prepared by the same team.
