On the top floor of a building on Route des Hôtels, a hundred metres from the shops and the lift departure, a penthouse with the elegance of a contemporary chalet: a vast open living room under a fully panelled cathedral ceiling, a designer fireplace, an island kitchen and a large covered balcony overlooking the village and the Vaud Alps.

The apartment
The penthouse occupies the top floor of the Les Dryades building on Route des Hôtels, in the centre of Villars. You go up by lift, then a few interior steps lead under the roof: that is where the fully panelled cathedral ceiling gives the living room its volume and light. A designer fireplace dresses the space (it is decorative and is not lit, the heating is independent), and large windows frame the view.
The word luxury is not out of place: careful finishes, fine materials, quality bedding, down to details such as the fireplace guards, the cot and high chair available, or the list of babysitters we can recommend.
Three bedrooms, a double bed in each
The three bedrooms are panelled in light wood, each with a double bed, its storage, hangers and blackout blinds. The main bedroom has its own shower room. Two bedrooms have a desk corner with a screen, for those who have to work for a morning; the wifi and the sound system keep up.
Bed linen, duvets and towels are provided, the beds are made on arrival, and extra pillows and blankets are in the wardrobes.
The bathrooms
A bathroom with bath, a second, carefully designed shower room adjoining the main bedroom, and a separate toilet: with six people, nobody gets in each other's way in the morning. Hairdryer in the bathroom.
The island kitchen and meals
The kitchen opens onto the living room, with a central island around which you prepare breakfast as well as the evening fondue: oven, hob, fridge with freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, baking trays, utensils and wine glasses. The dining area is next to it, under the cathedral ceiling, and the balcony hosts summer meals.
The balcony and the view
The large covered balcony runs along the living room, with a wooden table for six. The view takes in the village rooftops, the church tower and, beyond, the Vaud Alps; it is the place for drinks facing the mountains, sheltered even when it snows.
The neighbourhood: Route des Hôtels
Shops, restaurants and lifts, with the departure of the Bretaye train, are about a hundred metres away: this is the best placed of our six Villars properties for walking to the slopes in the morning. A covered indoor parking space is included, and the car stays there all week.
Who it suits
A family of six who want space and light, two couples with children, six friends who like to cook together around an island. Young parents find the cot and the high chair; skiers, the departure a hundred metres away; remote workers, two desks.
The minimum stay is four nights, all year round.
Arrival and departure, in practice
Independent arrival: the access details, key box or code, are sent to you before your stay with the wifi code and useful addresses. Our Villars team answers every day from 9 am to 9 pm. Departure by 9 am at the latest; end-of-stay cleaning is included.
Good to know before booking
Non-smoking, no pets and no parties; quiet requested after 10 pm. The fireplace is decorative and must not be used. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, first-aid kit and fireplace guards in place. The tourist tax is charged according to the Ollon municipal regulations and shown on the booking page.
